Both are official written standards regulated by the Language Council of Norway, and neither substitutes for the other where an institutional or regulatory reason calls for a specific one. Word by word, by a native transcriber who knows both the dialect and the written standard. The National Library of Norway's own transcription guidelines set the rule: where the standard allows more than one valid spelling, the transcriber picks whichever sits closest to the actual pronunciation. It is a lexical decision made on each word, not a file-wide setting.

Yes, because the standard often permits genuinely different valid forms for the same word, and choosing wrong reads as inconsistent or simply incorrect. A university transcription guide for spoken Norwegian gives exactly this kind of call as its working example: deciding between two forms of the same verb based on what the speaker said. We assign transcribers who make that call correctly and check it against the audio.

There is no flat rate, because no two files take the same work. Runtime, recording quality, how many people are talking, your deadline and whether you also need an English version all move the figure. Upload is encrypted, the file goes to one named Norwegian transcriber who has signed an NDA, and nothing is put through public speech-to-text services at any point. If you have your own confidentiality agreement we sign it, if you have retention rules we work to them, and if your policy says the audio goes once the transcript is approved, we delete it.
