GoLocalise

Hear your own script, before you pay for anything

Send us a hundred words and we will have up to five professional voices perform them — your words, your brief, in any of 100+ languages. Back in 48 hours, free, with no obligation to book.

A demo is their script. A casting is yours.

A showreel tells you what a voice sounded like on somebody else's copy, often years ago and cut to flatter. It will not tell you how that actor handles your product name, your legal line at the end, or the joke in the third sentence that only works if the pace is right.

So we do it the other way round. You send the script you actually plan to use, a producer casts it against your brief, and the voices record your lines. You are choosing on evidence rather than on a reel — and it costs nothing to find out.

We have done it this way for years; it was simply never written down in one place. It sits alongside our published voice over rates and our Price Match Promise, for the same reason: you should know what you are getting and what it costs before you commit.

A voice actor recording in a GoLocalise London studio

How a free casting works

Four steps, and you can stop at any of them.

1

Send the script and the brief

Up to 100 words — the opening and the one line you are worried about is plenty. Tell us the language, who is listening and how it should feel.

2

A person casts it, not an algorithm

A producer reads your brief and picks the voices from our roster of 1,000+ professionals. You get a considered shortlist, not whoever happened to be online.

3

They record your lines and send them back

Each voice self-tapes your script — phone or home booth — so you hear the performance on your words. Back within 48 hours, in any language.

4

Book one, or none

Pick the voice and we record the real thing in our own London studios, directed, to broadcast standard. If none of them is right, you have spent nothing.

What the free casting includes

Written down plainly, so nobody has to guess where free ends.

Included

  • •  Up to 5 voices per language, cast against your brief by a producer
  • •  Your own script performed — up to 100 words or 60 seconds, whichever is shorter
  • •  Back in 48 hours, in English and in every other language we cover
  • •  An itemised quote for the finished job alongside the casting
  • •  No obligation — book one of them, or none

Not included

  • •  Not a finished recording. Castings are self-taped on a phone or a home booth so you can judge the performance. The master is recorded in our London studios once you book.
  • •  No direction session, no edit to picture, no mastering. Those are part of the paid recording.
  • •  No usage rights. The casting file is for choosing a voice. It cannot be used in a published video, advert or course.
  • •  One free casting per brief, not per client. Three projects, three castings — the same brief five times over is a conversation, not five castings.

Need more than a hundred words heard, or a directed test before you commit? Tell us the brief — a paid test session is usually the right answer, and we will say so.

Frequently asked questions

Is the voice casting really free?

Yes. You send a short piece of your script, we cast it, the voices record your lines and you listen — at no cost and with no obligation to book. You pay only for the finished recording, if you decide to go ahead.

How many voices will I hear?

Up to five per language, chosen by a producer who has read your brief. Five is enough to compare properly without being so many that nobody listens to the end. If you need several languages, each one gets its own shortlist.

How long does a free casting take?

48 hours, and that is the same promise for every language — not just English. Larger multi-language briefs may take a little longer, and we will tell you up front rather than let the deadline slide.

How much of my script should I send?

Up to 100 words, or 60 seconds of read, whichever is shorter. The opening plus the one sentence you are worried about — a tricky name, a number, a joke — tells you far more than a whole script read flat.

What if my script isn't finished yet?

Send a similar paragraph and say so. A true read of representative copy is worth more than a rushed read of a final script, and it means nobody is recording the whole job for nothing.

What quality are the casting recordings?

They are self-taped by the voice actor on a phone or in their home booth, so you are judging the performance and not the production. That is deliberate. The finished recording is made in our own London studios, directed, to broadcast standard.

How is this different from listening to a demo reel?

A demo tells you what an actor sounded like on somebody else's script, often years ago. A casting tells you what they sound like on yours — your words, your pace, your product names, the tone you asked for. It is the only way to know before you book.

Can I get a free casting in languages other than English?

Yes, in any of the 100+ languages we cover, with native speakers. The 48-hour turnaround applies to all of them, and the casting comes with a note on anything in the script that will not carry across as written.

Can I use the casting recording in my video?

No. The casting file is for choosing a voice and carries no usage rights. Once you book, the finished recording is licensed for the use you tell us about, and that is set out in the quote.

Do I have to book after a free casting?

No. If none of the voices is right, tell us why and we will cast again, or you can walk away having spent nothing. We would rather lose the job than record the wrong voice.

Can I ask for a second round if none of the five fits?

Yes, as long as the brief has genuinely moved on — a different age, a different energy, a different accent. What the one-casting-per-brief limit rules out is sending the same brief back unchanged and hoping for a different five.

Do I get a price at the same time?

Yes. The casting comes with an itemised quote for the finished job — session, languages, usage and any translation or subtitling it needs — so you are choosing a voice and a budget at the same time rather than one after the other.

Who actually picks the voices for my shortlist?

A producer here, who reads the brief and knows the roster. That is the difference from a marketplace, where you post a notice and whoever is free sends something in. Fewer, better-matched options, and a person you can ring to explain what you really meant.

From £400

/ €500 / $550

per hour in the recording studio

That hourly rate is the Basic Studio Fee: the recording session itself, studio and engineer included. Any buyout — the usage fee — is added on top and quoted separately: it depends on the markets the recording runs in, the media it runs on and how long you licence it for. Every line is itemised, and all of it carries our Price Match Promise.

Send us a hundred words

Tell us the language, the audience and how it should feel, and up to five voices will perform your script within 48 hours — with an itemised quote, and nothing to pay.
