Using professional voice over services for this purpose can take your project to the next level, by guaranteeing your message is correctly conveyed through the right choice of voice, tone, accent and language variety. Localisation that goes deeper: Translation is just the beginning of a multilingual project. Localisation means taking a text and reformulating it into a new language, but also adapting it thoroughly to the target language. Our team of linguistic experts will make sure your production is perfectly aligned with each of the markets you want to expand into.

Voices that sell: Finding the right actors for your audiovisual project is key to make it succeed, but combining it with a top-level production will guarantee the desired results.

Seamless production: Script-writing, localisation, voice casting, recording, post production and delivery. All of these and more stages must be encompassed to ensure your project is aligned with your needs, That’s why, since the beginning, a project manager is assigned as the point of contact between you and all the teams involved to seamlessly coordinate efforts towards delivering an excellent product.

How to find the right voice actor

In a sparse universe of voice actors, choosing the right one can seem daunting, but there are several points to consider to ensure the voice should matches your script

Are you producing a pharmaceutical commercial? A kids’ audiobook? Or an educational video? All of these require different voices, often provided by different actors. It is wise to choose professionals who can deliver a sample from similar productions. Similarly, geographic location and target audience are key when selecting your ideal voice actor. Picking an actor with the same accent as your audience can give your project high levels of engagement and empathy from your viewers and listeners.

In GoLocalise, you can run your own online voice actor auditions by browsing our directory of actors and listen to their samples to pick the one that suits your project best based on their past experience, vocal style and linguistic variety. And when a demo is not enough — because it was recorded on someone else’s script — ask for a free voice casting and up to five of them will perform your own words, back within 48 hours.

Voice actors for multilingual and global projects

Are you planning on taking your project beyond borders? Create a full multilingual strategy with a team of voice over actors in all the languages you require.

Localising an audiovisual project does not simply mean translating content, but truly adapting it to a variety of audiences. Each language comes with its own cultural nuances, and these must be thoroughly respected along the entire localisation process to achieve the same effect on all the different locations.

Carefully selected voice talent for each market

English is spoken by approximately 390 million of native speakers, and this number can reach 1.5 billion if you also consider people who speak it as a second language. For this reason, many different linguistic varieties have emerged according to locations, ethnicities and social groups, each with their own vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. The same happens with all the other languages in the world.

Selecting actors who match the linguistic varieties of your audience can set the difference between creating a production that sounds awkward and distant, from one that sounds close and familiar.

FAQs

What is a voice actor?

A voice actor is a professional performer who records vocal performances for media: commercials, corporate videos, eLearning, animation, audiobooks, video games, and more. They work exclusively through their voice, using performance skills and vocal control to deliver recordings that feel natural and suited to the audience.

How much does a voice actor cost?

It depends on script length, project type, usage rights, and whether translation is involved. We structure each project around your specific needs, so the best way to get an accurate figure is to request a quote.

How do I hire a voice actor?

Share your brief with us, including script, tone, language, and deadline. We handle casting, recording, editing, quality checks, and delivery. You can review samples before recording begins and have one point of contact throughout.

Do I need a male or female voice actor?

It depends on your content, brand, and audience. Both are used across every project type. The more useful question is what tone your script needs and who your audience will relate to most. We can help you work that out during casting.

Can GoLocalise provide voice actors in multiple languages?

Yes. We work with native-speaking voice actors across a wide range of languages, managed centrally so you have one point of contact regardless of how many languages your project covers.

What's the difference between a voice actor and a voice artist?

None. Both terms are interchangeable. "Voice artist" is more common in the UK, "voice actor" in the US, but both refer to the same professional.

What's included in a voice over from GoLocalise?

Your voice over includes voice casting, native-speaking direction, recording in our own Central-London studios, editing and clean-up, and delivery in the formats you need — all managed by a dedicated project manager from brief to final file.

What can I use a voice over for?

We produce voice over for commercials, corporate video, eLearning, animation, video games, IVR and audiobooks — all delivered to broadcast quality and ready to publish.

Can I see samples before I commit to a voice over?

Yes. Ask us for relevant samples and, for any voice over, we will walk you through our approach and share examples so you know exactly what to expect before you book.

What file formats do you deliver a voice over in?

We deliver your voice over in whatever format you need — WAV, MP3, AIFF and more — at broadcast specifications, as separate files or a single mix, ready to use.

What do you need from us to quote a voice over?

Less than people expect: the script, or the draft of it, its total running time or word count, where the recording will be used, and the date you need it by. If the script is not signed off yet, send the draft anyway — we would rather quote on what exists than wait for a version that eats your deadline. A named project manager comes back with an itemised quote, normally within four working hours.

How quickly will we hear back, and who will we be dealing with?

More than half of enquiries get a reply within thirty minutes during office hours (Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm UK time), and the itemised quote normally follows within four working hours. After that you have one dedicated project manager who owns the job from brief to final file — not a ticket queue, and not a different name on every email. If it is easier, call +44 207 095 5730 and ask for them by name.
