Recording to picture or wild
Every project is different, so both studios record wild (untimed) or synced to picture. When you localise audiovisual content, timing is everything — a line that's short in one language can run twice as long in another, and audio that doesn't fit the original timing means costly re-edits later.
Our voice artists are skilled at timing their delivery to picture, keeping your localised audio in sync without losing a natural flow — getting it right the first time and saving you time and money.
Recording to picture also means fewer surprises in the edit. You see the words land against the visuals as they're captured, so lip movements, on-screen text and cue points all line up before the session ends — not after your editor has already started stitching the film together. Whether it's a tightly timed commercial or a feature-length dub, we lock the audio to the frame from the very first take.
It works across every format we handle, too — short social clips, TV spots, long-form documentaries, e-learning modules, video games and IVR. Just send us the picture, the script and any timing notes, and our engineers will set up the session so the read matches the frame, flag anything that won't fit before we hit record, and hand back audio that drops straight into your timeline with no reworking at your end.

Can I hire the studio for my own session?
Yes. You can book either room with one of our engineers running it, bring your own voice artist, or have us cast one for you. Tell us which of the three you need when you enquire and the quote reflects it — most people ask for the third, but the rooms are there either way.
What does a studio session include?
The room, an in-house sound engineer running it, and the edited files afterwards. The Blue Studio takes two voice artists in the booth, with the engineer, a producer and two to three of your people in the control room. The Red Studio takes four in the booth, with the engineer, two producers and three to four of your people. Both run Neumann TLM 103 mics, Focusrite Octopre MK2 preamps, Pro Tools HD and Genelec 1030A monitoring. Direction, casting and script adaptation are available on top if you want them.
How much does it cost to book a recording studio in London?
We publish the rates rather than make you ask for them, and there are two of them because there are two ways to use the room.
Bringing your own voice talent? Studio hire with a sound engineer is £130 / €190 / $210 per hour, £390 / €570 / $630 for a half day (4 hours) and £780 / €1,140 / $1,260 for a full day (8 hours) — the room, the engineer and basic file cleanup, with one hour the minimum booking.
Want us to cast and direct the voice too? That is a produced session, and the Basic Studio Fee is £400 / €500 / $550 per studio hour, £1,200 a half day and £2,400 a full day. It includes the voice actor, the casting and the direction as well as the room and the engineer.
All prices exclude VAT, and both are on the full rate card. A usage licence is added only when the recording is published or broadcast. Send us the script and the date and you will have an itemised figure the same day.
Where exactly are the studios?
Lower Ground Floor, 86 Stockwell Road, London SW9 9JQ — a few minutes from Stockwell and Brixton, so Victoria and Northern line both work, and the Overground at Wandsworth Road is close too. It is Central London without the West End parking problem.
Can I direct the session without coming in?
Yes, and most international clients do. We run remote sessions over Source Connect, or Zoom if you prefer, so you hear every take live and can redirect on the spot. Unedited files can go out immediately after the session, or polished audio within 24 hours.
How far in advance do I need to book?
24 hours notice is always best, and with that we can almost always give you the room and the engineer you want. But we also take same-day bookings — when a session falls through, a voice artist calls in sick, another studio closes on you, or the deadline simply moved. Call +44 207 095 5730 rather than emailing if it is for today. Casting adds a little time at the front, because you need to hear voices and choose one before anybody records; if you have a fixed delivery date, tell us that first and we will work backwards from it.
