About Arabic translation
Arabic starts with a decision other languages do not force
Arabic has over 310 million native speakers across the Middle East and North Africa, and translating into it starts with a decision other languages do not force: which variety the text should be written in.
Arabic also runs right to left, letters change shape according to their position in a word, and the translated text rarely occupies the same space as the English. Layouts, interfaces, and subtitle timings all need adjusting rather than simply refilling.
At GoLocalise, we work with native Arabic translators matched to both the subject matter and the target market, and every text is reviewed by a second linguist before delivery.

How can we help you?
Your project manager has everything covered
One point of contact from brief to delivery, and a second linguist on every text before it reaches you.
Brief review
We review your source material and your audience, and agree up front the decisions this language forces before anyone starts translating.
Linguist assignment
Your project goes to a native Arabic translator with experience in the relevant field.
Translation and review
The text is translated and then checked by a second native linguist for accuracy, consistency, and register.
Delivery and consistency check
Files are delivered in the format you need, with the choices agreed at the brief applied consistently from the first line to the last.
Regional varieties
Modern Standard Arabic or a regional variant
Modern Standard Arabic is the shared written register used in media, education, and official communication across the whole region, and it is the right choice for the large majority of corporate, documentary, and pan-regional video.
A regional variant — Egyptian, Gulf, Levantine, or Maghrebi — reads as local and familiar to one market and slightly foreign to the rest, which suits advertising and consumer content aimed at a single country.

Built for video and audio
Getting Arabic right on screen
Arabic brings its own on-screen considerations — and right-to-left text makes on-screen handling a craft in itself.
Right-to-left on screen
Arabic subtitles, captions and on-screen text run right-to-left, and mixed content (Latin brand names, numbers) needs proper bidirectional handling so nothing flips or breaks.
Modern Standard Arabic for reach
For subtitles and most scripts we use Modern Standard Arabic, understood across the region; where a project calls for a dialect (often in voice-over), we cast and adapt accordingly.
Condense for reading speed
Arabic line length and script density mean we spot and condense subtitles carefully to keep them readable at broadcast speeds.
Timed, not dumped
We deliver spotted subtitle files and two-column voice-over scripts timed to the original — never a loose document that still needs spotting.
Deliverables

Most common questions
How much does Arabic translation cost?
Arabic translation is priced per word for text and per minute for audiovisual, varying with volume, subject and turnaround. Send your files for a free, itemised quote, backed by our Price Match Promise.
Are your Arabic translations done by native linguists?
Yes. Native Arabic linguists translate in the right variety — Modern Standard Arabic or a regional one — and a second reviews every text so it reads naturally for your market.
Do you provide Arabic subtitling and voice over as well?
Yes — Arabic translation, right-to-left subtitling and voice over from one team, so your whole project stays consistent.
Do you handle right-to-left Arabic subtitles and on-screen text?
Yes — right-to-left is core to our audiovisual work. We deliver subtitles, captions and on-screen text laid out RTL, with correct bidirectional handling for mixed Arabic and Latin content.
Should I translate into Modern Standard Arabic or a regional dialect?
Modern Standard Arabic is understood across the entire Arabic-speaking world and is the usual choice for corporate, documentary, and pan-regional video. A regional variant connects more directly with one country and suits advertising and consumer campaigns. We advise on the right fit before the work begins.
Will the Arabic version be longer or shorter than my English text?
It varies by content type, and either direction is possible. That's why the safe assumption is that it will not match. Where text has to fit a fixed space, such as an interface, a packaging panel, or a subtitle, we flag the constraint before translating rather than trimming afterwards.
Can you handle right-to-left layout and design files?
Yes. Right-to-left presentation affects far more than the text direction, including alignment, punctuation placement, the direction of tables and charts, and how numbers and Latin script sit inside an Arabic sentence. Send us the working files and we will return them laid out correctly.
Can machine translation handle Arabic?
It handles predictable, repetitive text tolerably and degrades sharply outside that. Diacritics are usually absent from written Arabic, which leaves ambiguity a human resolves from context, and machine output frequently defaults to a register that reads as stiff or unidiomatic. Our Arabic translations are produced and reviewed by native linguists.
How quickly can an Arabic translation project be delivered?
Most short documents are delivered within 24 to 48 hours. Word count, subject complexity and turnaround all move the date, and your project manager will confirm the timeline at the start.
What do you need from us to quote Arabic translation?
Less than people expect: the document, script or subtitle file, its word count, what the text is actually for, and the date you need it by. A draft is fine — we would rather quote on what exists than wait for a final version that eats your deadline. A named project manager comes back with an itemised quote, normally within four working hours.
How quickly will we hear back, and who will we be dealing with?
More than half of enquiries get a reply within thirty minutes during office hours (Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm UK time), and the itemised quote normally follows within four working hours. After that you have one dedicated project manager who owns the job from brief to final file — not a ticket queue, and not a different name on every email. If it is easier, call +44 207 095 5730 and ask for them by name.
We are still pitching and the budget is not signed off. Can we still get an Arabic quote?
Yes, and it is one of the commonest reasons people get in touch. Tell us it is for a pitch and you get a figure you can put in front of your own client, itemised so it stands up to being picked apart, with no obligation and no follow-up sales calls if the pitch goes elsewhere. If it lands, the quote still holds and we already know the project.
