Hindi translation services
Audiovisual translation is our specialisation, but our native Hindi translators also translate any text — corporate documents, technical and marketing material, articles and eLearning. The verb carries gender, so who you are speaking to is decided before the first line.

About Hindi translation
Hindi translation, with gender and level of address agreed before anyone starts
Hindi nouns are masculine or feminine, and the possessive, the adjective and the verb all have to agree. English carries none of that information, so it has to come from somewhere: either from the brief, or from a translator guessing.
The same applies to the level of address. An honorific pronoun takes an honorific verb form, and mixing the two is one of the errors a Hindi reader notices immediately. When the text speaks directly to a user whose sex the source does not state, there is a decision to make — and it is far cheaper to make it now than after the file is built.
At GoLocalise, we work with native Hindi translators matched to the subject matter, and every text is reviewed by a second linguist before delivery.

How can we help you?
Your project manager has everything covered
One point of contact from brief to delivery, and a second linguist on every text before it reaches you.
Brief review
We review your source material and your audience, and agree up front the decisions this language forces before anyone starts translating.
Linguist assignment
Your project goes to a native Hindi translator with experience in the relevant field.
Translation and review
The text is translated and then checked by a second native linguist for accuracy, consistency, and register.
Delivery and consistency check
Files are delivered in the format you need, with the choices agreed at the brief applied consistently from the first line to the last.
Regional varieties
India, and the English inside the Hindi
Hindi is one of the official languages of India and has one written standard in Devanagari, so the question is rarely which Hindi — it is how much English belongs in it.
Commercial and technical material carries English loanwords that are normally transliterated rather than translated, and the transliteration is expected to match the formality of the surrounding text. We agree the balance at the brief instead of discovering it in review.
Varieties we cover
- Standard Hindi (Devanagari)
- Corporate and technical
- Conversational
Areas of expertise
What we specialise in
From corporate video and eLearning to documentary, advertising and subtitles — always audiovisual, with Hindi gender agreement and level of address settled before the first line is written.
Corporate and brand video
Company films and internal communications, written to fit the shot rather than overflow it.
eLearning and training video
Course modules and training films, with terminology kept consistent across the programme.
Documentary and interviews
Factual programming and interviews, where the register shifts between speakers and has to survive the move.
Advertising and social video
Campaigns and short-form video, cut to land inside the time available.
Subtitles and captions
Frame-accurate subtitles kept within a comfortable reading speed.
Voice over and dubbing scripts
Scripts timed to the original, ready for a native voice in the booth.
Built for video and audio
Getting Hindi right on screen
Hindi brings its own on-screen considerations, and grammatical agreement is the one that decides how a line can be written at all.
Gender is not optional
The verb, the adjective and the possessive agree with the noun. A line addressed to a user whose sex the source does not state has to be decided, or rewritten so it does not need deciding.
Honorific pronoun, honorific verb
The level of address carries its own verb form. We fix it at the brief so the file does not move between levels halfway through.
Loanwords transliterated, not translated
English terms that the audience already uses are transliterated with the spelling and the formality the surrounding text calls for.
Timed, not dumped
We deliver spotted subtitle files and two-column voice-over scripts timed to the original — never a loose document that still needs spotting.

Most common questions
How much does Hindi translation cost?
Hindi translation is priced per word for text and per minute for audiovisual, varying with volume, subject and turnaround. Send your files for a free, itemised quote, backed by our Price Match Promise.
Are your Hindi translations done by native linguists?
Yes. Native Hindi linguists translate and a second reviews every text, so it reads naturally and addresses your audience correctly.
Do you provide Hindi subtitling and voice over as well?
Yes — Hindi translation, subtitling and voice over from one team, with the same agreement decisions applied across all three.
Our interface speaks to one user. Which gender do you use?
That is the decision we raise at the brief. Hindi verbs and possessives agree in gender, so a line addressed to a single user has to pick one, or be rewritten so it does not need to. Both are legitimate; what is not workable is leaving it to each translator.
What happens if we add gender to our user profiles later?
The text has to be revisited, because the agreement runs through the sentence rather than sitting on one word. It is worth telling us at the brief if that change is on your roadmap, so we write the strings in a way that survives it.
Should English terms be translated or kept?
Usually kept and transliterated, because that is how the audience reads them. The spelling is expected to match the formality of the surrounding text, so we agree the balance with you rather than deciding it line by line.
Will the Hindi version be longer than the English?
We do not publish an expansion figure for Hindi, because we have not found a source we trust for one. What we do instead is write to the space available and tell you at the brief if your layout is going to be tight.
Do you deliver Hindi subtitles and voice-over scripts, not just documents?
Yes — audiovisual is our specialisation. We deliver spotted SRT/VTT and timed two-column voice-over scripts, plus translated text when you need it.
How quickly can a Hindi translation project be delivered?
Most short documents are delivered within 24 to 48 hours. Word count, subject complexity and turnaround all move the date, and your project manager will confirm the timeline at the start.
