Dominican Spanish voice over

Dominican Spanish is a Caribbean variety with a fast, rhythmic delivery and relaxed consonants that give it an unmistakably warm, upbeat character. It's the right choice for content that needs to feel local and lively to Dominican audiences. Popular for advertising, radio and entertainment across the Dominican Republic and the wider Caribbean diaspora.

Tourism, music and radio drive much of the Dominican voice work we do, and the market rewards the warm, upbeat delivery a native actor brings. We cast Dominican voices for hospitality, entertainment and consumer brands speaking to the island and to the large Dominican community in the north-eastern United States, where that Caribbean sound signals authenticity instantly.

The fast, rhythmic Caribbean delivery is the whole appeal here, so we cast and direct for that energy rather than smoothing it away. It's particularly effective for brands courting both the island and the sizeable Dominican diaspora in New York and the wider US north-east, where a genuine Dominican voice reads as home. Where a campaign also needs to reach beyond the Caribbean, we can pair it with a neutral Latin American version so the message still carries.

About Spanish voice over

Castilian or Latin American: choosing a Spanish voice actor

Spanish is spoken by close to 500 million native speakers across Spain and Latin America, which makes it one of the most valuable languages to produce content in and one of the easiest to get wrong. A voice that sounds perfectly natural in Madrid can sound out of place in Mexico City or Buenos Aires, so a Spanish Voice Over is a question of which Spanish before it is a question of which voice.

At GoLocalise we work with professional Spanish voice actors who record in approved studios across Spain and the major Latin American markets. We manage every step, from script translation and casting through to editing and final delivery, so the read matches the market you are speaking to rather than the language in general.

Whether you need Castilian (European) Spanish for Spain or Latin American Spanish — including Mexican, Argentinian, Colombian, Chilean, Peruvian, Venezuelan, Dominican and Puerto Rican — we cast a native voice from the right country, plus a neutral Latin American read when you want a single version for the whole region.

Spanish text typically runs 15–30% longer than English, so a script that fits 60 seconds in English rarely lands in 60 seconds of Spanish. We adapt for timing as well as meaning, so the read still breathes under picture or subtitles.

A few production notes: Castilian (Spain) and Latin American Spanish are not interchangeable, and within Latin America, Mexican, Argentinian, Colombian and Chilean each carry their own colour — with a neutral Latin American read available when you want one version for the whole region. The biggest markets are Spain, Mexico (the hub of Latin American dubbing) and the 40M-plus US Hispanic audience, and tú vs usted sets the tone, so we match register to your brand.

The part that catches most projects out: the script has to change, not just the voice. A script written for Spain almost always addresses its audience as «vosotros». That form is not used in Latin America at all — the whole region says «ustedes» — so a Castilian script handed to a Mexican voice actor does not produce a Mexican read. It produces a Mexican voice reading Spanish from Spain, which is worse than either, because it sounds like a translation that nobody checked. Swapping the actor is the easy half; the copy has to be adapted with them.

And it goes further in Argentina and Uruguay, where «tú» becomes «vos» and the verb changes with it: «tú tienes» is «vos tenés», «tú puedes» is «vos podés». Voseo is not slang or an accent, it is a different conjugation, and an Argentinian voice reading «tú tienes» sounds as stiff to a porteño ear as a British actor reading American copy. If Argentina is a target market, tell us at brief stage and we adapt the script rather than the delivery.

«Neutral» Latin American Spanish is a constructed accent, not a place. No one grows up speaking it. It is built by stripping out the markers that flag a country — Argentinian «sh», Chilean speed, Caribbean dropped consonants — and it leans on a Mexican base because decades of dubbing trained the region to accept it as the voice of the screen. That is exactly why it works for e-learning and pan-regional campaigns, and exactly why it is the wrong choice for advertising that needs to feel local. A neutral read reaches everyone and belongs to no one. If you want the audience to feel spoken to rather than broadcast at, cast the country. See Castilian vs Latin American Spanish for how to make that call.

One sound gives Spain away instantly: the distinción. In Castilian, the soft «c» and the «z» are pronounced with a «th», so «cielo» and «cerveza» carry a sound that simply does not exist in Latin American Spanish, where they are read as «s» — the «seseo». It is not a subtle accent detail a listener might miss. It is the first thing a Latin American audience registers, within the first sentence, and it flags the recording as European before a single word of your message has landed. The reverse is milder: a Latin American read in Spain reads as foreign but not as wrong.

The US Hispanic market is its own brief. Around 40 million people speak Spanish at home in the United States, and the default there is neutral Latin American with a Mexican lean, because that is what the major US Spanish-language broadcasters use. But the audience is not uniform — Puerto Rican and Cuban Spanish dominate in parts of the East Coast and Florida — and English loanwords sit far more comfortably in US Spanish than they would in a script for Mexico City. Tell us whether the audience is in the US or in Latin America and we cast, and adapt, differently.

Before anything is booked, let us read what you have written. Reading it is free and often changes the brief. The quote afterwards is broken down properly. Plus a free casting — the Spanish voices we would actually recommend, reading the script you plan to use. Request Spanish auditions, or outline what you are planning and we will come back with options.

Most common questions

Can I use the same Spanish script for Spain and Latin America?

Not as it stands. A script written for Spain addresses people as «vosotros», a form Latin America does not use — the whole region says «ustedes» — so the copy has to be adapted, not just re-voiced. Argentina and Uruguay go further again with «voseo», where «tú tienes» becomes «vos tenés». We adapt the script alongside the casting, and we flag it at brief stage rather than after the session. Tell us your markets and we will quote both versions.

What is neutral Latin American Spanish, and when should I use it?

It is a constructed accent rather than a real place: the country markers are stripped out so the read travels from Mexico to Argentina without flagging any one nation, and it leans on a Mexican base because decades of dubbing trained the region to accept it. Use it for e-learning, corporate video and pan-regional campaigns where reach matters most. Do not use it for advertising that has to feel local — for that, cast the country. Send us the brief and we will recommend which way to go.

Which type of Spanish do I need, Castilian or Latin American?

It depends on your audience. Castilian suits Spain and Europe. For Latin America you can pick a specific country accent — such as Mexican or Argentine — to connect best with a single market, or a neutral Latin American read, which is built to reach audiences across much of the region at once. We advise on the right fit for your target market before recording.

What is the difference between Castilian and Latin American Spanish?

They share the same written core but differ in pronunciation, vocabulary and some grammar, enough that a Castilian recording can sound clearly foreign to a Latin American audience and the reverse holds too. For customer-facing content we recommend casting talent from the region you are targeting rather than assuming one version covers both.

How quickly can a Spanish voice over project be delivered?

Most short projects are delivered within 24 to 48 hours. Turnaround depends on script length and talent availability, and your project manager will confirm the timeline at the outset.

How much does a Spanish voice over cost?

The first thing to settle is not the price but the count: one Spanish recording or two. Castilian and neutral Latin American are different bookings, and campaigns that assume one read covers 500 million speakers usually discover otherwise in the Mexican market. Once that is decided, the quote is a session fee — studio, engineer, direction, as one figure — plus a usage licence sized to where the audio runs. Send the script and the territories and you get an exact, itemised number with our Price Match Promise behind it.

How do I hire a Spanish voice actor?

Tell us the countries first. The shortlist for a campaign running in Spain looks nothing like the shortlist for one running from Mexico to Argentina, and the difference is audible in the first sentence. From there we record in our Central London studios or through the network, with one project manager across the whole set.

What projects can I use a Spanish voice over for?

Corporate and eLearning for companies with Spanish and Latin American operations makes up most of it, alongside broadcast and radio advertising, tourism and heritage narration, pharmaceutical and medical content, IVR, games, and audiobooks. Dubbing too — Spanish has one of the largest dubbing markets in the world, and audiences there are used to a standard most languages never have to meet.

Do you offer Spanish dubbing, subtitling and translation as well?

Yes, and Spanish is a language where doing it together earns its keep: the copy runs roughly twenty per cent longer than the English, so the subtitle line and the voice track have to be adapted against the same timings rather than translated separately and reconciled later.

Why choose GoLocalise for Spanish voice over services?

Spanish is the language we record most, and the mistake we see most is treating it as one. Our roster is split by territory and a native director sits in on the session, because the choices that give a read away — vosotros against ustedes, the distinción, which of two perfectly correct words a Mexican listener would actually use — are made line by line in the booth, not in a review round.

Can I hear Spanish voice samples before booking?

Yes. Browse our Spanish voice actors and listen to their demos, or send your script and we will shortlist voices and provide sample reads, so you can choose the perfect Spanish voice over before you commit.

What file formats do you deliver Spanish voice overs in?

We deliver Spanish voice over in whatever format you need — WAV, MP3, AIFF and more — at broadcast specifications, as separate files or a single mix, ready to drop straight into your project.

Can you produce a Spanish voice over for the US Hispanic market?

Yes, and it is one of the most common Spanish briefs we handle. US Hispanic audiences are largely served by a neutral Latin American Spanish rather than a Castilian read, and often by talent comfortable code-switching for bilingual campaigns. We cast voices who sound right to Spanish speakers in the US and can advise on tone for a market that spans many countries of origin.

Which sectors use Spanish voice over the most?

Spanish is one of the highest-volume languages we record, so demand spans almost every sector: retail and consumer goods, travel and tourism, food and drink, financial services, public-health and government messaging, and large-scale eLearning for multinational workforces. Because Spanish reaches Spain, Latin America and the US Hispanic market, it is often the first language brands localise into after English.
