Albanian voice over services

Albanian has two main dialect groups: Tosk, spoken in southern Albania, and Gheg, spoken in northern Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia. It is official in all three countries.

Here is the part that turns a linguistic fact into a commercial one. Standard literary Albanian was built on Tosk — it is what is taught, what official documents use, and what any translation tool will produce by default. And a very large share of Albanian speakers live in Kosovo, where the everyday language is Gheg.

So the standard is not a neutral middle ground. It is one side's variety, formalised. A commercial in impeccable standard Albanian aimed at Pristina reads as correct and as coming from somewhere else — much like a Spanish ad recorded in Madrid and shown in Mexico City. Nothing is wrong with it; it just is not local.

That makes this a question to settle in the brief rather than in the booth. For institutional, educational and pan-Albanian content, the standard is usually right and expected. For advertising, community-facing and anything meant to feel close to the audience, tell us which market and we cast for it.

One other thing worth knowing: Albanian is its own branch of Indo-European, with no close relatives. Neither Greek, nor Italian, nor the neighbouring Slavic languages offer a shortcut for casting or translation.
