No. Sinhala and Tamil are both official languages, and Sinhala serves the south and centre while Tamil serves the north and east and the Tamil and Muslim communities. A Sinhala-only campaign reaches a large audience and misses a substantial one. If the brief is national, record both — we cast each with its own native talent and can schedule the sessions together, which costs less than commissioning them separately.

No, and this is not a matter of accent. Sinhala is Indo-Aryan, a distant relative of Hindi and Bengali. Tamil is Dravidian, a completely separate family. They share no grammar and nothing beyond loanwords, and there is no mutual intelligibility. A Tamil speaker has no more access to Sinhala than an English speaker has to Finnish.

Sinhala has its own abugida, with distinctive rounded letterforms that come from centuries of writing on palm leaf, where a straight stroke would split the fibre. It is not Devanagari and not Tamil script. Your subtitle and graphics templates need a font that supports it, which not every production chain has by default. We check the rendering on delivery, and it is worth testing your own templates with a real Sinhala string early on.

Deliberately. English is a link language in Sri Lankan administration and business, and professional speech switches into it constantly. A script that strips every English term sounds artificially formal; one that leaves them all in sounds unadapted. We make those calls at adaptation stage with a native linguist and flag the borderline ones so you can decide.
