Calling Cypriot Greek voice talent
We're expanding our Cypriot Greek roster
Cypriot Greek is a language we're actively growing. If you're a Cypriot Greek voice actor, we'd love to hear your demos and put you forward for paid work.
About the variety
Formal content can use standard Greek. Conversational content cannot.
Cyprus runs on two things at once. Standard Modern Greek is the language of school, administration, news bulletins and everything written. Cypriot Greek is what people actually speak to each other, and it differs from the standard enough in sound and vocabulary to be identified instantly.
A Cypriot follows standard Greek with no friction at all — it is their formal language, not a foreign one. What they do not do is hold a conversation in it. That gives you a rule you can apply without thinking about it much:
For corporate video, training, institutional content and IVR, standard Greek works and is what people expect. You do not need a Cypriot voice actor, and our Greek service with its wider roster is usually the better answer. We would rather tell you that than sell you something narrower.
For advertising, social, testimonials and anything meant to sound like one person talking to another, it does not. An Athens voice is placed immediately, and the piece reads as made elsewhere and shipped in. That is exactly the impression a local campaign is paying to avoid.
The commercial case for treating Cyprus separately is real, too: it is an EU member state with its own sectors generating content — financial and professional services, shipping and maritime, tourism — that are not covered by default from Athens. Typical work is advertising and brand content, tourism and destination material, community and public-information content, and corporate work for Cyprus-based organisations.

Getting Cypriot Greek right
What to know before you record
Half the time the honest answer is that you do not need this page.
Formal content: standard Greek is fine
Corporate, training and institutional material is expected in the standard, and Cypriots consume it without friction. Use our wider Greek roster and save the difference.
Conversational content: it is not
Advertising, social and testimonial work needs to sound like a person from the place. An Athens read is identified within a sentence and lands as imported.
The written side stays standard
Even when the voice is Cypriot, subtitles and on-screen text normally stay in standard Greek, because that is the written norm in Cyprus. Do not transcribe the dialect unless the effect is deliberate.
Cyprus is its own market
An EU member state with financial services, shipping and tourism sectors that commission their own content. Being served from Athens by default is a gap worth closing.

Most common questions
It depends on the content, and often standard Greek does. Cypriots use standard Modern Greek for school, administration and news, so corporate video, training and institutional material in the standard is expected and lands fine — our Greek voice over roster is wider and usually the better fit for that. Where you do need Cypriot is advertising, social, testimonials and anything meant to sound like a person from the place.
