Dub
Also called: Dubbed.
Dub is short for dubbing: replacing the original dialogue with a new recording in another language, performed to picture so it fits the actors on screen. The word comes from doubling — the dialogue is doubled in a second language.
A dub costs several times what subtitles cost and takes longer, because it needs casting, direction, a recording session per language and a re-mix. What it buys is a viewer whose eyes are free, which matters for children’s content, action, and anything watched on a second screen.
