English collapses all three into «you», so translated scripts arrive with the level chosen by accident. In customer-facing content the difference between the familiar and the respectful form is the difference between a brand that sounds friendly and one that sounds like it does not know its place. The script itself is dense with conjunct characters — consonants that combine into single ligatures — and fonts and systems that handle them poorly produce text that is unreadable rather than merely ugly. Bengali has no grammatical gender at all, and it uses the same pronoun for he and she. That occasionally makes a translated line ambiguous where the English was specific, and equally it removes awkwardness English creates — but it means a script cannot be checked for gender agreement the way a European language can, and a translator working mechanically may add clarifying words that were not needed. It is worth a read-through with that in mind.
