Sub

Sub is short for subtitled: a title released or watched in its original audio with translated subtitles on screen. In anime it means the original Japanese voice track with subtitles in the viewer’s language.

Subtitling costs less than dubbing and is faster, and it keeps the original performances intact — which is why it is the default for festival releases, limited runs and anything where the original cast is part of the draw.
