Lip sync (lip synchronisation)
Lip sync is the craft of matching dubbed dialogue to the mouth movements and timing of the on-screen actor, so the new language looks as though it was spoken by the original performer. It is the most demanding form of dubbing.
It costs more than other dubbing styles because the script has to be adapted, not just translated: lines are rewritten to match syllable count and mouth shapes while keeping the meaning, and then recorded take by take against picture.
