Word count

Word count is the number of words in a script or document. It is the main factor when quoting translation and, together with running time, when estimating voice over recording and pricing.

It also moves between languages. The same English script typically runs longer in Spanish, French or German and shorter in Chinese or Korean, which is why a translated subtitle or voice over rarely fits the original timings without adaptation.
