EBU-STL
Also called: STL.
EBU-STL is the subtitle format used by UK and European broadcast, defined by the European Broadcasting Union. It is a binary format carrying positioning and broadcast-specific fields that a plain SRT cannot hold.
A file exported as SRT and renamed will not pass a broadcaster's check: the positioning, colour and teletext fields have to be built in, so confirm the destination before the first language is cut.
