German eLearning voice over

A lot of German course work is technical: engineering, manufacturing, automotive, compliance and safety training, where the vocabulary is dense with long compounds and the accuracy is the point. A narrator who fumbles a compound term or mispronounces a product name loses the learner's trust immediately. We agree a pronunciation guide for the technical vocabulary and any English terms kept in English, and keep the same narrator across the whole course so nothing shifts between module 1 and module 40.

The regional call is usually simple for training: standard German serves learners across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, so one recording covers the DACH region; we'd only reach for an Austrian or Swiss voice if a course is consumer-facing and single-market. What matters far more for a course is a measured, patient pace that a learner can absorb.

German also runs longer than English — often 20–35% — which matters when audio sits to on-screen text or animation, so we pace and, where needed, adapt the script to fit the timing. Then it's the usual production discipline: audio split per slide or screen, named to your structure, formatted for Storyline, Rise, Captivate or your LMS, with changed lines re-recorded by the same voice when content updates.
